2 Things To Do When Looking For The Right Boarding Facility For Your Dog

You love your pet, but you can't take them with you everywhere you go. That means that sometimes you might have to arrange for them to be boarded at a facility so that you can go and do what you need to do. When you are making plans as to where to board your dog, you want to make sure that you are picking the right place. There are several things that you can do in order to find the right facility for your pet.

Visit the Facility

One of the things that you can do is to arrange to spend some time at the facility before you take your dog there. You want to look around and see how much space each dog is going to have when they are in the kennels. You also want to see how big any runs or yards are because dogs need to have room to run around, play, and get out their energy. You should also check out how high any fences are, especially if you have a dog who is a jumper. You want to do what you can to make sure that they are going to be safe while you are gone. Ask the people at the facility what the cleaning schedule is, how often the dogs get to go out, and any other questions you might have.

Veterinarian

You should find out if there is a veterinarian on staff or if the boarding facility has an arrangement with a local vet. If your dog were to get sick or injured, you want the facility to be able to treat them as quickly as possible, and that may mean taking them to a vet other than the one you use. So, find out about their vet and make sure that you provide all of your dog's health records to the facility so that they have them in case your dog does need to have medical treatment while you are away. The facility may also ask you to sign paperwork approving any treatment that your dog may need while you aren't in the same location as your pet.

If you have to leave your pet while you are going on vacation, on a work trip, or for whatever reason, you want to make sure that you are leaving them at the right facility. That means that you are going to need to do a little work to find the right place to keep your dog while you are gone.
